Volunteer Kapiti advice during COVID-19 alerts

|Volunteer: While NZ is at the level 4 alert level for COVID-19 – volunteering will take on different forms. It is important any volunteering is undertaken safely within the level 4 guidelines.
During Alert Level 4, volunteers have been advised to follow national guidance to stay at home. Volunteer Kapiti is currently only able to assist with volunteer roles for organisations that provide approved essential services.
Most of our general volunteer roles will be on hold during the self-isolation period. However, we will be posting on our FB page and website any COVID-19 response roles as they develop – while following Civil Defence advice.
Current Volunteer Roles:
We are collecting expressions of interest for people that want to Volunteer for community COVID-19 response. As more information becomes available, we will direct volunteers to opportunities over the upcoming months. Click on the link below if you would like to register:
|Connect with your neighbours via phone, email, social media (you could set up a facebook group for your street), letterbox drop or a wave from the letterbox!
Check if anyone that you know within your street/local area needs additional help (eg if they are older, living alone or have limited access to online communications). This could take the form of dropping off essential supplies (if this can be done safely and within the COVID19 level 4 guidelines) or providing support and advice on the phone (eg help on how to link with social media groups or online shopping).

The National Crisis Management Centre Planning Team are encouraging volunteer groups to ensure their own contact lists are up to date with current phone, email and social media information. They are assessing options and implications regarding volunteer support.
Update from Kapiti Coast District Council: The Council Welfare Team is acting as the central point of coordination, by continuing to connect with essential services, community and volunteer groups and assessing current local needs.
